Hi All, Not sure if this is in the right section, so i appologise if its not. I am after photos of 08 641 at penzance. This is to help me with detail for my build of my mmp 08. I can only find 08 840 and 644 pics at the mo so if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated ;)
Also does anyone know the layout of Penzance signal box :?: ie; was there a stove and where was it , where was any cupboards, table chairs etc. Was the toilet downstairs or upstairs, or was'nt it in the box at all :?:
PS this is during the 1970's

Thanks in advance Rob

Dont worry about the sections, im not :)
Im afraid I have nothing directly relevant, but I do have an article in the Great western Journal about Penzance in the 50's and there is a nice selection of station and signalbox shots. I also found this via MRJ http://www.kirtleymodels.com/page11.html again a bit early, but there is a chance Peter Smith may have some details of the 'box. If you want the MRJ article on the construction of the station let m know.

Hi 28ten, Thanks for the reply the link was interesting, some nice pics and an exellent shot from under the station canopy. That build must have taken some time. As regards the MRJ i would be interested in any of the pics/info on the signal box.
Cheers Rob

Here are three pics of the progress of my signal box so far. Does anyone know the colour of the wooden planking at the top half of the box during the 70's. I think its light grey but all photos ive got are in black/white.

As you can see from the pics i'm getting there slowly. The stove pipe still has to be cut to length , but i will do that after i have fitted the roof. I'm struggling to get info/pics of the right side interior hence why the back wall and window are'nt finished. If anyone could help please let me know ;) . Not sure if the toilet is in the corner or downstairs ? . Theres a wash basin near the side window but thats as much as i know.Hope you like.

Thats looking good! I have looked through 'western region signalling in colour' and I would be inclined to paint the inside cream as that is what most boxes seemed to be.

Hi guy's, i managed to do a little more on my signal box over the last couple of days. Hope to take some more pics at the weekend. I also managed to do some work on the siphon G, still a little more work on the underframe to do and handrails etc then ready for primer. My GUV (westdale) is ready for some nice weather so i can get some primer on that too.
PZ station pilot- MMP 08, i have made a little progress but nothing worth taking any pics of yet. Hope everyone is happy modelling.
PS Phill, hows that Terminus coming on :?:
Dan, hows Rifleman progressing (bet its further forward than Buccaneer  )

My terminus hasn't progressed at all :( .......too much DIY at the moment ;) ....I have managed to start to service a few loco's for the summer timetable though  , D824 Highflyer is getting a new pair of motor bogies courtesy of our newest member (cheers Ross :D ) & I'm servicing/repairing 807 Caradoc' in between tiling, plastering etc
Can we see some pics of the GUV & Syphon's progress :?:

Cheers Phill

Dont talk to me about DIY I have about 6 months full time work to do  with young kids it is impossible to do a lot of jobs in evenings , so things have just slipped. the next 'must do job' is a new kitchen sink and work surface, followed by finishing a coldframe, then there is the decking to clean and refinish, followed by the front path, bathroom ........
Yes it would be good to see the GUV :D

You've got the makings of a great parcels rake there Rob    . The signal box is looking really good too, when I do get on with my terminus I will have to get involved in this area, at the moment though I can't decide whether it is going to be BR(WR) ex-GWR or BR(WR) ex-LSWR

I like the ex LSWR idea, it adds a nice little twist and a lot of character, you wouldnt have Ilfracombe in mind?? .
I always liked Winchester Chesil which went from WR to SR in 1950 so some of the signs were Green and some was still ex chocolate.
