Pretty little things....

I had a bit of down-time at work during the week, and for some reason started thinking of fun options for small layout 'scenarios'. I don't remember exactly how the idea planted itself, but I found myself looking up 'how to' guides, and found this great article on making scale sunflowers (there's guides for a number of other flowers which I may try at a later time);

I had a bit of a battle to find appropriate paper punches - I got lucky and found a "sun" stamper that didn't require manipulation of petals - and when punched out, the petals bend inwards slightly to give what I think is a very pleasant look;

Adding the leaves is problematic but in a production line, I'd painted 60 flower-heads and punched around 50 x 8 leaves and about 80 flower heads within the space of an hour and a half. The idea at the moment is possibly making up a small sunflower farm as a little cameo on a larger layout. I grew a few giant sunflowers as a kid, and it was quite fascinating!

I made a little..... something to sit on my desk at work. Diorama isn't quite the right descriptive. It's literally a 3" offcut of pine stud from the kids' trainset project. I just wanted a teeny bit of colour and modelling inspiration around.

I'll add a little painted colour to the path once the glue dries but otherwise it's kinda cool. I may try and finish off the significantly larger diorama scene/S7 test track I've been building over the next few nights too... no sunflowers on that but there's a few other details that are quite interesting!
