Replacement nose ladders for Dapol 08

I have damaged - beyond repair, one of the very fragile nose ladders on my Dapol 08 and wondered if anyone was aware of a replacement etch on the market that I could obtain?

regards

Hi John,

that is good news and thank you for pointing it out. I had looked some time ago and they were not listed. I have emailed to notify me when they are back in stock - hopefully not too long now that the Chinese New Year is done and dusted!

regards

Hi Mike

I have done the same!

I approached Dapol direct without success, so many thanks John, for your information.

Best regards

Hi Mike,
I have no idea if they'll fit but I have these from an old Acorn 08 kit that are going spare if you're interested, despite my scan making it look grey it's a brass etch. PM your address if you want them and I'll pop them in the post, freebie!
Sorry Mark but Mike did ask first.

I can’t inagine Dapol make random new batches of spares one they have sold out.

Worth an add in the wanted sections - surely someone will have picked up a second hand loco with unwanted ladders and removed them?

Nothing like dragging an old Thread back up, eh? :)
I have very recently got a green Dapol 08, early crest & wasp stripes but NO ladders - most surprised as that's how it's described on the label & I didn't know any were done like that.
Long story why a green 08 and why I didn't know the exact version I was getting, but the upshot is that a google search for spare ladders has drawn a blank elsewhere & threw up this Thread in the search results!
Peter's Spares now have all Dapol spares, there are all sorts of obscure bits for the 08 listed, but not ladders, of course
SO......
Has anyone got any they don't want, or spare etches - I haven't PM'd Darren above - yet!! - as this Thread is 4 years old and for now I'm assuming that spare etch he had is long since spoken for??
I've sent a message to PH Designs to ask if he's had any call for replacement ladders. Not listed on the website, but the Dapol ones were notoriously fragile anyway, as I understand?
Well there you go... needle in a haystack maybe, but interrsted to hear from anyone who can help!!
Cheers, Jordan.

Can I help? Sorry. Might I need some etches in the future? Most probably as we have more than a couple of the old nags.

Needle in a haystack? Surely you mean "ladder up a haystack"!

Given the apparent demand it might be worth someone producing an etch on a "club" rather than commercial basis. Not too difficult to do and the result should be more resistant to damage.

I drew these and had them etched (as part of a larger sheet)

Sadly no ladders in stock but Peters Spares now distribute Dapol Spares of all scales/gauges.

Here's a link to the 08 section.
Like what I said when I re-opened this post ;)

It would be interesting to know if those who "pre ordered" the spare ladders ever got any..?
Meanwhile I have been remiss in not updating my own situation here. A chap on ebay does 3D printed ladders for OO Gronks; a message to him got me a set for 7mm
They are a tad chunky compared to etched metal ones, especially emphasised with white paint, but they fit just right & will do me....

Edit - no idea why the topmost rungs are not there; I've added them myself from bits of plastic strip (but not photographed yet!)

Hi , Thanks for link to steps builder one to follow up I think, having soldered a set back together, very fine but a touch with a wayward finger and they are finished.

Al at NIU models say £5.50 pus postage for O models and could do other bits shown in 4mm to 7mm, anybody fancy a class 13!
