Richard's Workbench - Adams' Radial Tank

Hi,

The Radial has been returned with the minor snagging issues dealt with, and I am now reassembling it, fitting the R/C and finishing it off. It is being picked up Friday, so I have a deadline to work to.

Here's the chassis, finished.

The only remaining area of concern is getting it through 5 ft radius curves. There's nothing I can do at the back end, and only limited things I can do at the front, but we shall see. However, since it is R/C, I'm not worried about shorts. :)

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have any photos of faces for the cab gauges? I can print off here if someone has a decent square-on photo. I'm sure we've discussed this on WT, but I can't remember where.

My stock of CPL stuff is exhausted and I haven't been able to find anything since. The photos of the Radial on the net have had the faces removed which is singularly useless:(. I'd be happy with anything vaguely appropriate.

Thanks,

Richard

I have some BR ones, Richard. I'll PM you at the weekend as I'm about to go away - unless someone else beats me to it.

I've just been through a few pics - I think the only loco in preservation that has LSWR gauge faces is the T3; one assumes for not much longer :(.

I have some T3 cab interior photos; but they weren't taken for the cab gauges as a result I'm dubious of whether they would come out at all. If you can find a sharp photo of any of the gauges I can Photoshop them to get the faces for you without problem or time.

Thanks Steph, I have used some BR ones pro tem. As and when we do some proper LSWR ones, I'll replace them then. Better than a big white featureless dial I think.

In the meantime, it is finished. I can't find my light tent at the moment and the light is otherwise poor here at the moment, so this is the best I can do for now.

I have to say I really like this livery, I think the earlier one looks a bit washed out and insipid.

absolutely splendid. I am fighting myself not to get one and save my money for the K10 when it comes out. Will build my M7 next year I hope.

Beautiful Richard, I have to agree about the livery. And with the shiny copper and brass it really looks the part:thumbs:

Hello Richard,
Wonderful modelling and thanks for sharing it.
I have been gifted a Shedmaster kit and am doing my best to improve it, as well as adding all the rivet detail.
Two questions:
- do you have a close-up photo of the join between the boiler and the smokebox. I would like to remake this from scratch and a decent photo of what I need to achieve would be most helpful
- did you do anything to strengthen the top of the cab side? You mentioned you were thinking of doing this and it does seem very flimsy and liable to damage, if it ever gets picked up at this weak point.
Thanks and best wishes
Arthur
