Rotherbrook

Someone asked to see pictures of my blue diesels layout. Here it is but it's not all blue diesels - there are some industrials thrown in too.

Rotherbrook is, like my 7mm layout, set in the West Riding (or would that have been West Yorkshire?) in the post-steam to mid 70's period. Influences are drawn from the Rotherham area and the South Yorks. coalfield.

Apart from the main lines there is a steel foundry, a colliery and a coke and by-products plant.
Chocolate box scenery it ain't!

I haven't finished the colliery or coke plant so I only have pictures of works in progress for those and, to be honest, I can't see them being finished any time soon. I've not touched this since I began work on my 7mm layout. The last time I had a running session there was an electrical fault that I found impossible to identify due to the mess of wiring and the fact that I've lost the diagram that I scrawled on a sheet of A4. I also stole the CDU that works the turnouts and fitted it to the 7mm layout to "test" it. That was over a year ago and I've not put it back so I've kinda fallen out with this layout and I cannot muster the enthusiasm to be laying on my back attempting to find the fault.

Don't recall copping any 1 to 10's or Hymeks in my spotting days in the W Yorks  .......I think we had to travel to cop those :D

Thanks for posting :)

Oooh... Yes!.. I used to get the D1-D10's at Rotherham regularly on workings from Toton. Never saw a Hymek up here though, until the scarp-yard experience at Marple & Gillott in Attercliffe, Sheffield:(

Love the photos - I especially like the scrappy shot with no loco's evident... Great!

Here's another.

An overall view of the canal basin with the tippler on the right. I built the working tippler for the 2008 challenge competition on another forum. I was somewhat miffed when, being only one of three entries that were actually completed, the whole thing was dropped with no explanation and without so much as getting to the voting stage, let alone the giving of prizes! I've just searched said forum to look for pictures of the tippler under construction, as I no longer have the original photos on my computer, and the whole lot has mysteriously vanished...

I guess it's in the same black hole as your banner, Dave, it's just a month now since you asked about that:confused: When I was building 'Windcutter', I made a point of retrieving all the text and photos that I wanted from the 6WTS thread, for similar reasons.

Good to see at least some of Rotherbrook here though Dave, the original thread is one of those things I'll always associate with a certain time of my life:)

Your photos aren't showing up, Jordan...

I have found a photo of the tippler before it was fitted. I say fitted but it was more a case of building that part of the railway around it, rather than fitting it into the railway.

Okay, I'm baffled...

All I'm doing is right-clicking on the pics, copying their location, and then posting that between the "img" and "/img" square brackets.... it works for me.
You guys using some dodgy software like Windows IE8, or something...??:p:D

Looking at the HTML code for your posts, your photo links are not correct as they contain a modified address. The address contains info suggesting that you are posting using a mobile phone since the address now points to a mobile phone server cache rather than the WT server.

When I get chance I'll try re-posting on my home PC...
That will almost certainly fix the problem. The original picture link was:
<img src="http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l5/soddit36/rotherbrook/hymek.jpg" class="bbCodeImage LbImage" alt="" /><br />
Your mobile posted link became:
<img src="http://1.2.3.9/bmi/i92.photobucket.com/albums/l5/soddit36/rotherbrook/hymek.jpg" class="bbCodeImage LbImage" alt="" /><br />
The modification "1.2.3.9/bmi" points to your mobile's server. That's why you can see it and no-one else can. If you look at this thread on your home PC you will then see our problem!

Cheers

Dave
