ScaleSeven Group updates

Whilst I appreciate that many WT members are also S7 Group members too, you may not have seen the latest news on the Group website. The latest news item is reproduced below.

The COVID-19 Pandemic

We are all now facing the arrival and wide spreading of the Covid-19 virus pandemic. This is known to be much more serious in its impact on the older part of our population. Many of our members (including some committee members) will have been advised to isolate themselves at home for a period of 12 weeks starting on 22nd March 2020. We the ScaleSeven Group Committee have a primary responsibility to protect the health and wellbeing of all our members. Accordingly we are taking the following actions to protect you to the maximum extent we can.

  • We have postponed the Annual General Meeting with a provisional plan to reinstate it at the national meeting planned for Mark on 10th October 2020, assuming that it is possible and safe to proceed with that event at that time. If it is not possible to hold the Mark event we will review how best to manage the situation.
  • The national meeting booked for Albury for 25th April is postponed to a date to be decided when it is safe to hold the event.
  • The S7G Committee will suspend all physical meetings, but will continue to manage activities as required by email and telephone.
  • The S7 Stores will continue to supply members with stores items. This may take longer than normal to package up and post ordered items to S7 members due the impact of the virus. Please bear with us in this situation as we will do the best we can to fulfil all orders.
  • We may have to suspend publication of the newsletter if the committee members involved are unable to carry out their duties due to isolation requirements.
  • The existing S7G Committee will remain in place until we hold the next AGM.
  • We may co-opt additional committee members to help us run the S7 Group to replace members who have resigned or retired. Where this occurs the co-opted members will submit their nomination(s) for approval at the next AGM.
We will update this message as appropriate when and as we progress and recover through this pandemic.

We urge you all to follow your governments’ recommendations, isolating yourselves where necessary so that you minimise the chances of catching the virus.

We all have to work together as best we can to stop the spread of this virus and bring this pandemic to an end as fast as is possible.

John Borkowski (Chairman)

On behalf of the Scaleseven Committee.

Just to let members know that the S7G Website now carries an updated statement from the Chairman. I have changed the text in Post #1 to show the new message.

I am in the prcess of developing a Sales and Wants facility for S7 Group members to dispose of their unwanted modelling items. The Sales page is visible by members and non-members alike.
At the moment, I have set up a temporary page to allow a member with deteriorating eyesight to dispose of a number of items. You can see a link to his list here.

Hi Dave.

I've tried opening the pdf file link on the S7 website, but for some reason it's not working for me on either my mobile or Kindle.

Dave,

The contact link for the seller starts a dialogue box for Microsoft Outlook... that program is not installed for my user name on this laptop.

I use the Waitrose E-mail web-server functionality for e-mail send/receive so how do I contact the seller?

regards, Graham

Thanks for supplying the address Phil. It's not the seller's actual email address but emails are automatically forwarded from that one.

Graham - the link opens a 'Mail to:' link which should open a blank email page with the address and subject line already filled in. If you don't have a mail client installed on your computer, it won't work.

Hi Mike
You download to your device and then open it. On my iPhone it downloads to the Files>Favourites> Downloads folder.

In case anyone has looked at the list, at 4/00 today I sent an e-mail, to the address provided by Phil, asking to buy the M7 kit and the Maunsell 5 cmpt brake composite kit.

Dave, (@daifly), just so you know that something works.... I am using a Samsung Laptop with Windows 7 and Firefox (my Windows XP machine is not internet capable). I can see the Members Sales link in the menu page of the S7 Group Website... if I click the Sales List link on that page I get two options:- open with Firefox or save to disk. The open with Firefox option brings up a display of the sales list. If I choose the save to disk option then the file is put in the Favourites / Downloads folder. I was puzzled at first because I could not find a file called S7 and 7mm items for sale as one might expect given the link name in the Members Sales web page - the sales list is named as List of Rolling Stock for Scaleseven 29jan .

Hi Graham
That’s the way I set it up. As items get sold, I only have to change the linked file, not the link title. The file title with a date lets me track which one is current.
Cheers
Dave
