I was asked to build and pain this last year, I’d spent a few hours here and there on it but it was far from finished.
Anyway, since I can’t golf or fish at the moment, I thought it would be good idea to crack on with it.
It’s from the javelin kit, I haven’t written about or photographed the build other than one or two pictures of the almost complete loco.
I have done some pictures of the painting process and though I would show them.
There are no captions but I’ve tried to keep them in order. I will add others as the job progresses.

Blummin great that Warren, lining by transfer? If not and a bow pen that is exemplary!
Still exemplary as it is.
Cheers for sharing.

From my viewpoint it's interesting that we approach the SE&CR lining out in different ways. Lovely spray finish.

I am very impressed by your lovely model, could you give a brief description on how you did the lining, as I think many of us would like to be able to do the same.
Thanks

Mike

Mike,
Cellulose main body colours, all sprayed high gloss to make lining easier and sharper. The linin* is done with gloss humbrol enamels through a ruling pen. Boilerbands are home made transfers. The best advice I could give would be to buy Ian Rathbone’s brilliant book on the subject. It covers everything.

The model is almost finished, just a few details to add and cab doors and Westinghouse pump to line.

This is the current state of play photos done with phone so not the best.

Ps, just noticed the ‘S’ on the Tender, it was very slight out of line but nothing too problematic, Its been sorted now.
It’s amazing how the very tiniest errors look ten times worse in photos

Beautiful paint job on an elegant engine, but if you don’t mind an observation, is the dome a little bit malnourished?
