Spikey Faz's G Scale pictures

I ended up not using the AK Interactive grass tufts. Instead I just stuck on some static grass that I found in a box. Not sure of the make but seems ok.

I've also started sticking some longer tufts of teddy-fur on. Needs a lot more and I got a bit bored doing that, so that's as far as I've got!

Love your models Mike. When you say G Scale what scale are you actually using? For example I do a little bit of messing around with 1:20.3, 15mm to the foot.
all the best

Ah! I have a rather liberal approach to scale when working with these models :eek::eek:
Probably nearer to 1:22.5.

This is my 'relaxation' modelling. I tend not to worry quite so much about exact scale and focus instead more on the overall finish. It's not as precise as the Scaleseven stuff I usually do, but it's fun! :) (that's not to say the Scaleseven modelling isn't fun as well!).

Thank you for your compliments. It means a lot to hear someone likes what I'm doing with my trainsets!

The Bachmann 2-8-0 is from their Spectrum Range, so in theory the scale is 1:20.3. The design is based on the prototype Baldwin Class E-2, built in large numbers to several different gauges, mainly for South and Central America. An example is preserved in the USA, built to 30" gauge originally for use in Mexico:

The main differences from the Bachmann model are the extended smokebox and headlight position. Judging from the tank on the tender its probably also an oil burner.

An attractive model, and I have been tempted , but maybe slightly on the small side when compared with 1:20.3 scale US 3ft. gauge prototypes.

Chassis seems OK apart from split drive gear. This is not uncommon and Bachmann sell a replacement axle with a nice metal gear on it. I'll order one in due course.

Still undecided as to what I'm going to turn this into. I was thinking of some sort of fireless loco.

I've been doing a bit more to this by adding replacement buffer beams.

New cab as well.

I've also reversed the brake gear.

Yes, I know the brake shoes don't align fully with the wheels, but when viewed from normal angles it's not apparent (to me anyway).
