Talerddig Mk ll: finally some fact instead of a lot of fiction

Backscene finally completely. Annoyingly I've had to make it in four pieces due to the wood I had available - a result of trying to keep costs down. Time will tell if I live to regret this. I'll be getting the sander out in the next few days to try and make good the joins!

I've also opened up the backscene to allow access to the fiddle yard.

Just waiting for some underlay to arrive so I can start tracklaying.

Very neat, Matt.

Is the back scene made of card?

Hi Jonte,

Nope, it's made from MDF. If I could do it again, I'd make sure I did it in one piece!

I'm sure once it's filled as you suggest, the casual observer won't know any different, and it's probably easier to do in sections anyway.

Hope you don't mind my interjection, but I tried something similar on my American layout using grey board which, while being resilient to bending (to a degree, of course), was cheaper than mdf. Mine were designed to be portable (the gaps being hidden by tall buildings - or at least that was the idea), but essentially the same as yours.

Hope you don't mind me sharing.

Keep up the good work!

Regards,

As inspiration with the layout seems to have stalled, I thought I'd try to kick start things by painting my Parkside Fish Van to represent a Parcels Van.

The reference photo I'm using is of a very faded van, hence the initial colour here. The next coat will be a bit bluer and the weathering will darken things up too.
