In previous years there's been a PDF of the show guide available on the GoG website. Can't seem to find it this year. Is it me, is it hidden in a members only area or is it that there isn't one?

You didn't mention that you were using the circumcised mobile version! If you Click the 'ignore mobile pages' option you'll get the full version with the show guide listed.

My first time visiting this show and I really enjoyed it - came home with lots of wheels, tools and bits and bobs - Its always nice to be able to get everything under one roof and everyone was friendly. Thought I'd be brave and do the 400 mile round trip in the old 145 as ive never given it a good long run - I think ive come back more tired than the car! (And its older than I am!)

My folks had a mustard yellow one of those when I was little. Black pvc seats in summer were a killer!

Ah , those were the days :) mines got mustard colored seats - not quite so bad in hot weather, but I do have to drive around with the heater on in summer , or it overheats .. all part of the fun!

I had a really good time, met some O gauge professionals only seen before on Facebook and picked up a real bargain to boot. I've been after a Metalsmith guillotine for a long while, now I own one and at a very good price. No excuse not to start scratch building now!

I bet the car feels better for the long run as well - even my 1998 V70 behaved herself after I did some work on her earlier this year.

saw precious little US outline for sale - all easily resisted in terms of prices or Era, or often both.

Yeah, some of it was snapped up even before I arrived late Friday afternoon to set up......

Can anyone tell me the dates for next year's Guildex? There was always a leaflet giving the dates for next year's shows but I didn't see any this year. I want to know so that I can book the hotel for next year.

Many thanks.

I had a brilliant day at the show - really glad I decided to take the train as it was much more civilised and relaxing journey. Every train on time and plenty of seating space. It was quite amusing on the way down as the one change was at Wolverhampton and whilst waiting for the connection on the platform it was a game to work out who was going to Guildex. OzzyO was easy to spot but I reckon 80% of those waiting were off to Guildex. Sure enough most of the train emptied when we got to Telford. 15-20 minute walk up to the Centre then the 20minute queue to get in but it was worth it.

First stop as I got in was the test track as Rafe Shirley was running a live steamer. It's probably the best part of 30 years since we last met so it was really nice to get a few minutes to chat and say hello. He's currently working on a live steam WD 2-8-0, he showed me the chassis and it was exquisite.

I finally managed to get to say hello to quite from the forum and it was really good to be able to put faces to names, thank you for listening to me talking incessantly.

However there are few apologies I need to make.

First @Rob Pulham and Christine - sorry for my rather terse hello. I had two or three people all speaking at once and I struggle in those situations. I was hoping to see you later to chat properly but never got chance. I did manage to get to see your entries in the modelling competition, the wagons and diorama looked good - I hope you won an award for them.

Second Phil @BrushType4 - I popped past a couple of times to say hello but you were heavily into your sales patter so I didn't want to interrupt. I was impressed that the punter wasn't allowed to leave until he handed over a tenner for the platelayers hut!!

Finally Graham @Dog Star - I was keeping an eye out for you all day and then sod's law I spotted you just as I was legging it for the door to catch my train and I didn't have time to stop. I'll have to be more organised next time.

Had a great time chatting to the Finney7 crew. Many thanks for the hospitality and it's great to see the interest in the kits. I've had a quick peak at the V2 and very impressed. So books are out trying to decide on a suitable prototype and currently flicking through transport treasury to get some photos to work from. There's nothing like getting a new kit to focus the effort on clearing out the current work on the bench so the afternoon has been spent progressing a few jobs and I hope to have an update soon.

I hope that everybody had a good time this year, I certainly did, especially bumping into so many WTers and old friends from the Guildford club as well. Collected everything that was on the list and kept the 'unlisted' items to a minimum for a change. Was tempted by an Agenoria Pecket on the B&B but resisted when I realised that its price had too much of a Premium!

Hopefully, it will not be too long before I get some progress photos up of some of the purchases but I must finish off what is already on the workbench.

regards

Mike

Hi Mike. That would probably have been one of mine. It was actually for sale at a discount. With a full set of wheels, motor and gearbox plus the untouched Pete Stamper kit and a £225 tag it was at 10% below it's last retail price!
If you're still interested then PM me with an offer!
