7mm The Derby Line - Rolling Stock

I have been told that Alan Gibson represents Sans Pareil so I would go through them.

Len,
Yep, and there's a monster list of castings in the back of the current Gibson Catalogue. One hopes it's a sign that the Alan Gibson folks will be making an appearance on the 0-gauge circuit...

Hi Tony

That's a major league improvement.

Can we have a portrait photo of the whole loco, as I'm sure the rear bogie also is a significant improvement.

Hi Phil, '79 looks like this....

I just need to tone in the valve gear a bit more and reline the cylinders after a track test tomorrow. I had to paint all the motion, the connecting rods were silver and the new motion a little yellow... Two of the sanders were loose, I have resoldered them.

I'm hoping to deliver to Richards on Saturday all being well.

Some thing don't look right about the dome, is it on the right way around?

Like the valve gear.

Might be something to do with the camera OzzyO, it looks ok in the flesh. I've blacked in all those silver bits. too now..

2 Standards done and delivered, one to finish, in the meantime now we have some warm weather it's time to catch up with the paint jobs. 48559 is part way through the weathering treatment, which takes several days. I need to loose that tide mark where the streaking starts. A clean fireman is hiding behind that paper!

And this Thompson coach has been stripped for the 2nd time, it was numbered and weathered, but it wasn't right, the maroon was lumpy and the weathering too dark, and after a 2nd opinion to confirm my dissatisfaction, I carried out that ghastly task. I've think I'm going to give up on rattle cans and spray with cellulose in the future..

Snowhill WD 2-8-0

So, on to the Snowhill WD kits. Initial work is on the tender chassis, I'm a little disappointed in the N/S etchings in that the etchings are slightly out of line from front to back in both kits. This creates an annoying cusp, which takes a lot of cleaning up. I didn't like the floating hornblocks either, a more positive location for them in the inner frames would have been better and a chassis jig ( which I don't have ) would have really helped. However the castings are tidy and I'm beginning to make progress.

Loving seeing these on the bench Tony, dub dees are a real favourite of mine  Are these for you buddy or someone else? Which locos will they be? I'm guessing if they're for you they will be Woodford locos ? I'll keep a close eye on this one,

Hi Tony, like Mick I will be following this closely as I have one in the stash. By coincidence I was only talking about it this weekend because Chris has just started a painting of Vera Lynn.

Hello Mick - one is for me, and one is a commission ( now I'm a full time paid modeller ). They will be 90218 and 90492, both Colwick engines.

See you at York!

Regards
Tony

Tony,
I'm watching this build with great interest, I'd love to build one of the Brighton allocated 2-8-0s in the 7**** series, c.1948. I've got a couple of the JLTRT WD tenders for other projects (which are very good) but the solid resin boilers of the full loco kits don't appeal...

It's funny how there's been a slew of WDs appear here this weekend. I have a JLTRT one to build as a commission, and I have been thinking about preliminary work on it this very day. Coincidence? Quite probably.
