I've just stumbled across this via beer and pub history bloggers Boak and Bailey - Manchester Archives are putting the archival collections of the city's official photographer up on Flickr from the '50s to 2007. The range of material is stunning, from building sites and plant (which @Osgood will enjoy for one), lots of road surfaces and textures, to council housing, lorries, civic events and all manner of pubs (hence B&B's interest). A tremendous resource and not only if Manchester and its environs are your thing.

Did the 112hp Gardner 6LW powered Scammell Pioneer have some help on the front for the run from the Beyer Peacock factory to the docks?
Probably not!
