Wagon Identification Help

Mick,

I've just received my copy of the new supplement to the Caledonian Wagon book by Mike Williams. In it there is a discussion about proposed Caledonian designs for high capacity wagons as well as the Leeds Forge variety. But what might be interesting is that Mike refers to a possible source of archive drawings in the Stratford Works Collection at the NRM. This collection contains not only the GER's own drawings but a wide range of dra\wings from other railway companies and suppliers. Mike was able to find official diagrams of Caledonian wagons in the collection whcih he could not find in any of the Scottish archives. So it might be worth a bit of a search through the collection to see if there is anything suitable from Leeds Forge. All the drawings in the collection have been listed by John Watling of the Great Eastern Railway Society.

The archive is near the bottom of this page and it looks as though the the Bench Hole Copy PDF is where things might be. There's certainly a fair amount of Fox patent stuff in there from Leeds Forge. But it might be worth hunting through some of the other PDFs.

Jim.
