Air Brushing Model Mates Dye

It’s the first time that I have used model mates applied with an air brush Just in case anyone hasn’t heard of this stuff it’s a water soluble dye not a paint as such, better explained by their website just google model mates.

So armed with an image of a loco for a reference I practiced a few passes with the airbrush on a bit of scrap plastic that was near enough the same colour as the locos roof. The dye dries within seconds of being applied so it can be layered on without waiting for it to dry.

Some images of before and after the only colour I have used so far is the slate grey.

One question though re the models roof ports and vents which ones would have clag I take it the round port more or less behind the fan is the exhaust. Lots of variations on roof detail with these diesels, least on a kettle you know where the smoke comes out
