www.smithslayouts.com describes the layouts built by John Smith & myself and has a diary of our exhibition bookings.
www.stationcolours.info is a site dedicated to recording the livery of railway buildings with colour patches, BS references & lots of pictures to hep modellers.
www.systonandpeterborough.co.uk is a site about the Syston to Peterborough line, originally Midland Railway.
www.meltonmowbrayrailways.info is a site describing the railways of Melton Mowbray as a spin off from the above site.
And finally... www.thonestramway.com. A French steam tramway in haute Savoie.

Cynric,

Thank you, yes! It's http://euram-online.co.uk/contents.htm
Pretty much what you'd expect, I imagine. Builds/blogs by myself and Yorkshire Dave of this parish. Some bits on DCC, Split axle pick-ups (the latter in the process of an extended update!), etc, etc.

Oh, and it's all 'Dark Side' stuff. Some of it very dark indeed...

Yes, and it is on my profile page - edit: now on my .sig.
It used to be displayed under my Avatar, I think.

And it is mainly composed of waffle meanderings!

What exalted company:bowdown:

As per sig:

http://windcutter.wordpress.com/

Just updated with a mini-rant;)
Some good points too. I think that there is no excuse for not getting the basic shape and proportions correct, and as long as an RTR model fulfils those criteria than the individual can tweak it to their hearts content.
One of my pet hates is when a kit manufacturer says in the instructions ' we know this part isnt quite right, but you just need to file 2mm off each side and it will fit' or words to that effect  and breathe ......

Ian, Cynric,

An interesting peice and with many good points, thanks for posting, Ian.

At risk of getting off-topic here; have either of you guys seen the vitriol that's been directed at Atlas and Intermountain over their Canadian-cab locos? Believe me, we aren't even mildly critical in comparison. However, I do wonder how effective criticism can ever be if it's only on a forum, blog or website if the manufacturer doesn't know about it.

It can work; Athearn have just announced a re-tool to their newly-introduced and cock-up ridden Genesis GP9 models. Apparently because they were directly made aware of the errors.

We always go off topic :))
No, ive not seen anything about Atlas, but from some American sites I have seen I can imagine the response !
Ask Dikitriki about the tender springs on his 3 (4?)F :) Interestingly I have never taken digital calipers to any of my models, but there are plenty of examples of things I couldnt live with.

I have

http://bawdsey.wordpress.com/
This was the late Chris Matthewmans' 'Strove'. I bought it and have given it a limited makeover bringing it up to the 1950's early 60's, using RTR loco's initially reflecting correct types (mostly) for the Ipswich area. Not often updated as its mainly an information site for the layout.

I also have
http://albionyard.wordpress.com/
This was initially for the layout 'Albion Yard' as an info page but has subsequently developed more into a general modelling blog. Most of the layout images are from Albion Yard, or related to the layout.

www.p4newstreet.com for me - although it hasn't been updated for a looooong while. I plan to redo it to version 1.3 with improved menus, some kind of imbedded wordpress thing and nivo slider for the piccies - thats my excuse why I aint done anything with the current one.

Cheers

Jim
