Quick flange gap question

Hello all.
A bit of a question from someone with NO tracklaying experience beyond RTR offerings.
Now according to the current G3 standards, flangeways are 3.5mm.
Ive recently found some 2.5" track gauges which are nice turned brass, and it appears theyre set up to partially offer a check rail gap, and convienetly fit Code 205 rail (70lb scale, perfect for 1870s America). Now these gauges would space a check rail at 3.2mm about.
I have no concept of track standards or the design behind them, but would this be close enough? With the slop in G3 wheels, Id assume its fine, but what do I know, I often end up wrong in my assumptions.

Trevor,
3.2mm is fine, as long as your gauge and wheelset back-to-back measurements conform to the G3 standard. The nominal difference between wheel back-to back and over-check-rail is quite generous.
If you have any gauge widening (as used on tight radius curves), then this will (if only using a check rail gap gauge) increase your over-check-rail distance - so you would need to check that the over-check-rail remains a fraction less than the B2B.
