At the start I had real misgivings about today being a celebration. A commemoration, yes.

Then I saw the clip of the white cliffs and a couple of Spitfires and I broke down. A nod to Uncle Bill at Runnymede helped restore composure. Then thoughts of my stepfather who was shot while parachuting down at Arnhem but not shot as a spy behind enemy lines by a very young and frightened German soldier.

I had, do have, members of my Family that celebrated VE day 75 ears ago, my thoughts were of everyone but especially those that did not make it.
My Great Uncle is the aircrew man in the middle of the poster in post#1.
He along with one other crew man were the only two out of the whole of his squadron to survive the war !
