Wassis? (L T lamp)

Guys,

Picked up this morning, a 3-aspect lamp complete with internal gubbins. I'm not convinced the red paint is original, but the L T stamp on the body almost certainly is.

I'm currently of the opinion it's a guard's hand lamp, but it'd be good to know. Thoughts?

I'm going to hold judgement on the colour for now. It's not the only red one out there and the paint has plainly been on there a while - I can see where the heat from the lamp has marked it. There also seem to be a greater variety of colours other than black, at least that's what seems to be the case on this page: Equipment
