Ynys Gwyntog

Ynys Gwyntog (Windy Island) was a series of articles in the 60s about a narrow gauge model. I bought a magazine containing an article on it from Towyn Wharf (as then spelt) station on my visit there in 1965. That article blew me away, a model that looked believable. Fantastic. It is just possible that article led to a hobby that has lasted with me to this day. Even today, the articles make for some reading, the pictures of the models still look convincing. And they are on the net. The techniques for constructing the buildings are still relevant, I just wish that some of today's modellers would read them, instead of getting XYZ manufacturer to produce the kit for it.

Although I campaign against copies of other models, I'm delighted to see that Bob Barlow has resurrected the name and is constructing his own homage to that layout. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
