Forum upgrade appears to have worked.

Hi,

Thanks for everyones patience - the forum upgrade seems to have worked successfully. There are a couple of minor tweaks that I'll need to make over the next day or two but these will be in the background.

There are a few new features visible - the main ones being a newer editor and a multi quote system. I'm just uploading a couple of videos to you tube and will post updates when they have been processed.

The only thing to note is that in some case the new style doesn't seem to be automatically picked up by the browsers people use. So if the tabs across the top don't line up properly could I ask you to restart your browser to see if that cures it, for the technically savvy clearing the cache should work.

Otherwise if there are any problems please mention them here and I'll see what I can do - although better get in quick before I crack open the beer.

Thank you Adrian.

The key feature for me has been the post editor upgrade. On an iDevice, now I get images in the edit window and a couple of other nice things. Good work, that man!

Thanks for the feedback it's good to know. Allegedly the new software also pays attention to the exif data in the images and will automatically orientate the images correctly if your iDevice or camera has stored the rotation tag with the image.

Ooh, I'll have to try that. Funnily enough, I've trained myself to turn the iPad around to overcome the issue. Perhaps I'm strange in having the home button to the left most of the time. :)

Hi Adrian,

working ok for me + seems that I have 'retrieved' the ability to quote from other posts - I 'lost' that function quite a few months ago:thumbs:

cheers

Thanks for the feedback.

Just thought of another feature to mention - you should note a little green triangle in the top lefthand corner of some avatars - this indicates if they are currently online.

Ha! I've clocked that as a bug - I think it's supposed to be a pair of spectacles. One of the image files doesn't appear to have been updated properly so some other icons might be a bit strange until I find out which file needs updating.

Hi Phill
I had this too - Adrian mentions it in the first post up top of this page

If that doesn't work, click on your name on the top left of the screen and select Preferences from the drop down menu that appears. The top box in there is called style, make sure it says Flexile-2, not Flexile. You can change it there and that will resolve the issue :)

Your inbox , alerts etc should be on the same level as the tabs if you are picking up the new style correctly.

You can also check the style in the bottom left hand corner of the forum.

If you click on the style name it will popup a box allowing you to select the "Style Chooser"

Which should let you select Flexile-2, it should be the default style but some browser caches are hanging onto the old style because some of the file names are the same with the new style.

If you post a reply in a thread then it is automatically added to your watched threads list, you can select to watch threads if required at the top of the thread.

This is set in your browsing preferences - see the first option.

So basically the watched threads is just a list of all threads you've been involved in and given your post count you will have a lot of watched threads.

Doesn't the small avatar at the side of each thread we contribute to do the same thing?
It does a similar job in that it indicates which threads you have responded on so if you view all threads you can see which ones you have or haven't responded to. With watched threads it can give you a list of just the threads you have responded to. It always has worked this way, it was just a little more hidden on the previous version.

BTW I have unclicked the box to automatically watch threads & it doesn't seem to have done anything
I won't do anything to any existing watched threads. All it will do is if you respond to a new thread then it won't automatically add that thread to your watched list. It won't delete your existing watched list.

If you want to remove all your watched threads then go to all your watched threads and under managed watched threads you can stop watching threads.

Note this will stop watching all threads - if you just want to stop watching a couple of threads then select the required threads and at the bottom there is the option to stop watching on selected threads.

I hope that helps.
