Forum upgrade appears to have worked.

It seems a recurring problem that the links in messages weren't visible enough, rather than the members continually editing links to make them visible I have updated the styling so now any links in messages should be more prominent.
Excellent news. I've been hoping for this for some time!

Not yet - I don't have easy access to that combination. I run Templot through a virtual Win7 machine at home so I'd have to fire that up and install Firefox to test it out.
This is a quote using a W7 PC using Firefox.
edit: This combo ignores my colour choice too - I presume the blue is your style change.

Yes blue is the style change and the bug with Firefox remains so unfortunately it will ignore your colour choice. Hopefully the default setting is ok now.

My apologies - I had seen the comment from Daifly but just hadn't managed to getting round to responding.

With the new style it has gone for the clean, less cluttered look, this has meant some information is no longer presented in the same way. The information is still there if you click on the user name it all appears in the little pop-up box for the user.

I hope this helps.

Its the internet equivalent of the naughty step :D

As Steve says it's an option within the forum software for the Flying Squad to hand out yellow cards. A bit like points on your license - you get some warning points and a PM saying you've overstepped the boundaries, accrue too many and you get a temporary ban. It's really designed for the really large forums with thousands of members so people get automatic bans if they clock up too many points without the moderators having keeping track of everyone.

However I'm really pleased to say that to the best of my knowledge none of the Flying Squad has ever had need to use the system, as everyone is perfectly capable of "playing nicely", doesn't mean there's a first time for everything.:p

What's trophy points? Do we win something?
I'm afraid you don't. Trophy points are awarded throughout your membership at various milestones relating to the number of posts you have made, length of membership and the number of likes you have received. One could argue that most people who have been here a while and posted modelling content will have reached 123 trophy points (the current maximum) therefore their use / value is pretty much negligible.

I bet I get warning points for asking........:)
Happy to start the ball rolling if thats what you want :p

Adrian,
Have we lost some search functionality during the upgrade? We used to have a search checkbox for 'threads started by this member' (or something similar) which I can't find. In the interests of ego (and helping with an enquiry) I was looking for threads I'd started in the 'Techniques' area and couldn't see how to just pull out the relevant threads, rather than all the (hundreds!) of postings I'd made.
Cheers,
Steph

And another thing...!
I've just found one of the threads I was after: http://www.westernthunder.co.uk/index.php?threads/re-stephs-wr-workbench-springside-2251.605/
The first posting has lost its photos - apart from one. I know the file names of the missing photos and yet entering them in the same form as the photo remaining doesn't work - I get some random pictures from other threads, if anything at all.
So - do I have to reinstate the files from the originals (yawn), or how do I re-establish their locations on the server and reinstate the link? As an aside, if I reinstate them from the originals does that mean the old files are still cluttering up the server space you're paying for? And what about anybody who may be linking to files located on WT?
Sorry Adrian, I've only noticed these issues today.
Steph

Hi Steph

2nd query first -

The photo problem was part of the upgrade we had back in October 2011 - Cynric did a video on how to fix the easy ones (ie the one photo that you do have visible on that post).

For the ones which are not showing, I seem to remember the easiest (!) way of sorting them out was to open each photo in turn (having edited the post and gone into 'more options'), save it on your desktop, delete it from the post, then upload each one from desktop again. No way round it, it is a pain in the proverbial. Plenty of yawn time I'm afraid :( At least that way the number of stored but not referenced images on the server are kept to a minimum.

Edit to add - Just found that Cynric also did a video of the not visible thumbnails here.

1st query -

I think you can get most of what you want by using the advanced search function - click in the search box, click on the more button at the bottom of the drop down menu, then select the middle tab 'Search Threads and Posts'. Enter the search term, member name, select the forum and tick the 'Display Results as Threads' option.

I must confess, I don't remember a 'started by this member button' - I'll have a look back through at what I can.

HTH
Steve
