Just a little more weathering done today and playing around to try get everything ready to wire up a manual speed controller setup as follows (once I’ve worked out the maths of what resistor I need).

Anyway weathering photos,
I’ve painted brakes and tank and the tank’s now fitted!

This week should have the IP engineering basic chassis and then I can test fit a potentiometer and work out how to make a temporary fitting until I can afford to buy transmitter/receiver and sound card.

IP Engineering basic chassis arrived yesterday so I got it fitted and tested, fettled it a little bit more this morning as wasn’t perfectly aligned and then set to painting a new exhaust that attaches to the top of the potentiometer!

Now all affixed and the top board screwed to the base. I have set on to some of the final assembly! Back section of the cab is now glued down and I put the front end resting (unglued) to check it all looks okay... here’s the results

A few more little details were added like painting the wooden plank on the cab box and dials onto the control panel

Next job, work out wires :-O

Developments have been a little slow of late as I’ve sourced switches small enough to fit in but they’re a little stiff to actuate so they’ll ether need a bit more stabilising or better locating.

I’ve also been working on combining a little 3D printing with laser cutting some very basic shapes to make some tipper wagons to pull... yesterday I mocked one together

Hopefully this little train construction and painting the tippers will be a very welcomed stress relief and wind down over the next couple of weeks because I’m going to be VERY busy at home preparing for a home move at the end of the month!! A very suiting image I can add to explain my mindset is this one I saw a while ago

I’ll try keep the photos coming!

Vandalism!
No it was me... both switch wires and battery didn’t fit so because i’d double bubble’d the switch to the top panel it required brut force, thankfully i’d printed a spare as I suspected it might of been an issue...

Pretty chewed up.. but, the wires are in and work!

The battery pack fits very snug in the control panel!

Just need to upload the video of it driving across the workbench at work...

Well it looks like the loco’s in the works shed for final adjustments before it can go out into service pulling wagons, the MDP are making sure all bolts are tight and everything is lubricated correctly even if he is a bit grubby!
Last time I check they’d all gone to tea....

All that seems to be left of the crew is their tools and a tea stained mug! The cheek of it...

I’ll need to brief them if workshop etiquette and tidying as you go.

Very nice.
The spanner looks like some we had. One end broken the other beaten to death, from undoing some long forgotten nut on a lorry.
Thank you, It printed a touch thinner than I hoped so I might give it another go tomorrow but looks the place in my little workshop diorama that it’ll be stored on :)

A touch more progress today with the laser cutter... 12FA2E20-ED68-4588-8940-59C2A8AA9475.jpegthe only tiny gripe I have with it was I stupidly made the shutters a touch to low.. we’ll just pretend that the doors the other end of the workshop are higher rollers, Right?
CB6AF160-4FEF-49BD-818A-0A2234DC9992.jpeg
Just wants some clear panels the other side, some roof rails for support and handling and my storage box will be ready for a lick of paint.

Friday I got a base coat on the shed Friday but wasn’t happy with just how yellow the walls came out. Only option was make it look grubby... so this morning when I was really early up for a feed but too late to go back to sleep I dashed off to work and threw some oil and muck around.
32E92E63-FE07-4507-AAF4-06B20359001B.jpeg
There was a tad to much on the brush for the top patch but I’m thinking of tinkering that tomorrow morning.

The tool box is always an essential!

The little loco parked in and the side glazing is now on, again i’ll Photograph that tomorrow morning, so once the shed team were happy with the loco’s position they stuck the kettle on again!

The 1:1 model of the chap in the background of the video is particularly realistic!

JB.

Glad I didn’t have to paint that figure, would have taken me bloomin’ ages to paint!
Was one of those caught in the background actually doing some work.... not playing with trains ;)

Another little update on the shed and wagons!
This morning the shutters chain was fitted and wall at the back rectified
45CCFC8F-9600-4F14-8BD2-DD2CEA6CC05E.jpeg
No longer a garish too dark mark at the back
So I moved on to the wagons and put a second coat of colour on the 1st tipper

And then beside what it looked like originally

A little more weathering and making a little more tatty and dirty i’ll Be happy.
The Perspex sides fitted to The display box today at lunch i’ll Focus on getting a top on it!

Tom,

being picky, there’s something else that stands out, and I’m sorry to mention it, because the diorama is most effective.

The lintel over the door is not higher than the loco cab. Can you move the green roller shutter box up a few mm?
