My first cad drawing

It only took me 5 hours but I've finally got a drawing that might, just might, work. It's to replace a broken spring on the Stella I've just built. I worked through 16 tutorials on Youtube and watched a couple of other videos and after many many cut de sacs it's done.
I would appreciate any comments and criticisms .

I'm shortly going to order a printer so that's another technology to master.

another question, entirely!

my brief experience of such matters is that
a) you need to exceed some minimal thickness in every area, and
b) you need the right orientation, and the right supports.

and c) some luck.

a) is pretty easy to arrange. b) is a dark art, and c) requires a midnight tryst at the crossroads.

Nice job, what software did you use? If your going to buy a printer go for a SLA one.

Simon and Rob, I expect to tap into the experience from here and I'll source 12 virgins for a full moon gathering if that helps. I'll place an order for a larger dustbin when I order the printer.

I used Fusion 360 and learned from two sources, beginners and very good was a series of 16 tutorials from Arnold Roundtree. I followed his videos and worked through the examples. The other guy is "3d drawing for model railways" He models in N gauge but has some good useful tips.

I googled "Fusion 360" and clicked on the first link here:



I then scrolled down and got to this on the left "For personal, hobby use". From there, I just clicked on "Download Fusion 360 for personal use" and did what I was told from there on:

Good afternoon, I'm interested to know what thickness you used for the individual springs, I did notice you chamfered the edges to get a definition, that's a good idea.

Hi Chris
the spring height is 0.5mm with a fillet of 0.15mm.
I can't take credit for the fillet I read this somewhere on here. I can't tell you where 'cause I've read so much and still learning.
My printer is on order, I'll let you know if this drawing prints out ok.
