Zoikes - that’s a surprising development! Perhaps you should have offered it for sale - I’m sure there would have been a bidding frenzy! To cut a long story short, the last passenger train departed from Bleddfa Road several weeks ago. Goods trains lingered on for a little longer before the layout was dismantled.

drawing up plans for Bleddfa Roads replacement
Hi Geoff,Well, it's almost six months since my last update, which is partly down to problems logging in and uploading photos. I'm told a few other members have had the same problem, but another reason for my absence is simply down to not having much to share. I do more pondering than modelling during the winter months, so I've been doing a little research and drawing up plans for Bleddfa Roads replacement. Whether my plans see the light of day remains to be seen?

The two outer baseboards have been stripped and disposed of, the centre section from the right of the crossing to the goods shed has been saved.

Thanks for taking an interest in my scenic shunting plank over the last few years, and for your kind comments and likes.

If you thought Bleddfa Road was small, then you are in for a shock with this one! Some of you might remember my aborted Llanbister Road shed project in 4mm scale. To recapitulate, the line from Presteigne, had it been built along the Lugg Valley, would have joined the Central Wales line, or Heart of Wales, if you prefer, at Llanbister Road, and I imagined that a small shed would have been provided.

After your last post when you wasn't sure if you were going to carry on modelling, this is great news! it does not matter either if its 11ft long or 1ft long, you're active again, Love the background and the artwork.Just a quick update to satisfy those of you who have been asking for plans, sketches and photos. If you thought Bleddfa Road was small, then you are in for a shock with this one! I've gone back in time before one of the railway bridges across the River Lugg was swept away by floodwater, which resulted in trains terminating at Bleddfa Road. The old plan featured a level crossing, but the road is now carried over the line by a bridge.

Yep, that's all there is to it, a simple plan for a simple mind, there will probably be a cassette at each end. Max dimensions will be 11 ft x 1ft 6" in old money.

It's early days yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of something like this...

Only the centre section of the old layout remains, and I'm tempted to use it again by realigning the main line and the old goods shed road. The scenery and backscene will obviously be changed, but don't read too much into this. The main purpose of mocking up the scene was to check how the old water tower would sit with the engine shed.
In closing, does anyone else keep getting the message 'Opps, there's a problem' or words to that effect when trying to log in, add updates or like posts? Sometimes I'm being told to log in when I already am, and at other times I can't log out! It's taken me nearly all afternoon. to compose this update
I'm free of decorating now, but thanks to the current fine weather, the garden is calling.

Thanks for your kind comments and likes chaps, which are very much appreciated. I have yet to decide on the actual plan, but it will be smaller than Bleddfa Road and feature a simple, single road engine shed. If I've got my measurements right, then it will fit along one wall in a gentle arc. I'm currently building the shed, but if it overpowers the scene that I have in mind, then I'll drop the whole idea. At the moment Its looking promising so fingers crossed.

Early days, but this photo gives an idea of the size of the building when compared to my old 4mm model. It's based on Tetbury shed but without the attached water tower. Once the walls have been built up, they will be clad 'Pencarrow' style with styrene stones cut from waste, so it's not going to be a quick job, not that I'm in any rush.

I'm taking inspiration from this scene, I've been unable to discover the photographer or who owns the copyright, so this is the best I can legally do. As previously mentioned, my engine shed will be of stone construction, there will be a pit and coal stage, a few huts, a signal and whistle board, and that will be it. From an operational point of view it's rubbish, but that doesn't bother me because it's all about creating another atmospheric snapshot of the Lugg Valley Railway that interests me. Of course, it's all make believe but had history taken a different turn it could well have existed. A cassette at each end will allow trains to run through the scene, coal supplies will be needed and ash will need removing, that's enough to satisfy me.
But first of all I've got to redecorate the railway room, and my wife reckons I might as well do the hall, stairs and landing whilst I'm at it

Great stuff.

Hi Geoff,
"Pencarrow style"! Not two words that normally get used together![]()

Brilliant Geoff, love your sketches too true draftsmanship.
On the opps there is a problem thing it usually when you have had a tab open for too long with no input. Stuff has happened in the background I imagine all I do is hit the refresh button the page should reload and jump you back down the page to where you were.
Ah! Had me fooled or your software did! Liking what you are suggesting so far though.Thank's Ade, but I must confess that the pencil sketch was created using a program that converts photos into sketches and then tarted up using my photo editor. I did wonder if the 'oops' problem might be down to me using a Chromebook? I've had no problems this morning and have managed to post two additional photos that wouldn't load yesterday.
Geoff.
How did you get the shed in your pictures as you say you WILL be building it. Did you use AI?

Alan, Geoff will confirm but I believe that is the middle board from the old layout the shed as far as built on there with the water tower also off old layout. No Al involved.
