The '56XX' 0-6-2T's were very much South Wales engines but the initial requirements of South Wales had been largely fulfilled by early 1928. In February of 1928 No. 6625 was sent as new to St. Philip's Marsh. By January 1929, 13 locomotives of this class were allocated at English sheds.
