I've recently joined, prompted by some excellent (mainly 7 mm scale) modelling threads from another site moving here and not wanting to lose touch with them.
Now I'm here i thought I'd say "Hello" and post a few photos.
I model in 4 mm scale to P4 standards and have a part built layout based on the terminus at Delph, in the old West Riding of Yorkshire (despite being a Lancastrian!), set in the mid to late 1950's. In reality, the passenger service was withdrawn in 1955 so my model isn't historically accurate and has is called "Holt" (very original).
My main activity is loco construction with my main interests in ex-LMS and BR Standard types typically seen in the NW of England in that period. I also have a liking for rebuilt Bullied Pacifics and have been actively involved in some 304.8 mm/foot scale modelling with 35006, P&O, at the GWSR for the past 20-odd years.
Here's a selection of some of my completed models. All are built by me but have generally been painted, line and weathered by others.Cap_Blk5_027.JPG Crab_010.JPG Fairburn 2-6-4 10026.JPG Fire_irons_001.JPG Fowler_3_001.JPG Stanier 2-6-4 tank 10006.JPG Stanier Black V 44781 0018.JPG Std 9F 2-10-0.JPG Std_2_040.JPG Taw_Valley_001.JPG

A bit late to the hello, but hello Dave! Glad you have moved over. You have been busy with your loco building since we last met and that the classes have spilled beyond the confines of Lees 26F. I particularly like your Caprotti Five. The wheels do it, as there is a much character in wheels as there is in chimney profiles. Look forward to your layout postings.

Hi Dave,
And a belated welcome from me also.

I agree with Rob, lovely locos especially the big Stanier tank, one of which j am currently building in 7mm.

Cheers,
Peter

I don't remember seeing the big Stanier, so I think it had left Lees by 1960. But I fired the prototype of your Fairburn 42114. Yours truly preparing 42287....

Hi Larry,
I take it you were a fireman on the real things before you turned to painting models. As you clearly have experience on the prototype, please give me a shout if you spot anything wrong kn my DA 2 6 4 build.
Cheers,
Peter

I wonder if there were many differences between a Stanier and Fairburn 2-6-4T cab. I can't say I studied such things at the time. :)

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and kind comments.
Peter. Yes, I'm following your 2-6-4 with keen interest and thoroughly enjoying seeing it progress. In some ways, I'm quite envious of 7 mm scale modellers because of the high quality kits and detailing parts available compared with 4 mm scale. Of course, you need the skills and abilities to take full advantage, as you (and several others) amply demonstrate on here.
Larry, there were significant differences between the two types - shorter wheel-base and much more utility front end details on the Fairburn (Ivatt influence?) for instance, but there was also a great deal in common. Purely from an operators point of view, they were the same.
As you mentioned previously, some of my models have drifted away from strict Lees adherence. The Bulleid was pure indulgence and the 9F built at the behest of Ray Hammond for use on his Thursford layout and the other larger types are justified for use on the Wakes specials! I am knuckling down to some more appropriate locos now, with the Standard 2 tank and my current project for an Ivatt 2 tank equivalent. L&Y A class and an Austin 7 0-8-0 in due course.

Dave.
As mentioned, it was the cab interior differences (if any) that I was referring to. I look forward to seeing the building of your Fowler 0-8-0.
