I hope WTs will not get bored with this blow by blow account of this wagon build. I will have to build seperate masokits sprung units as the spacing on the moulded springs and axleboxes are slightly out and I really don't want to carve them off as they are very good mouldings. Any way more pics of more ironwork fitted and solebars.20200226_194421.jpg 20200226_195457.jpg

Please do not number the wagon using the photo-copy of a Gloucester wagon which Slaters (used to) supply with the kit, something like either no.917 or no.971. I have had access to the GWR Freighter's register for the period when Ocean was ordering wagons from Gloucester and there is no trace of the wagon in the Slater's paperwork... either when referenced as an "Ocean" wagon or by RCH plate number. Just as relevant is that the door retaining mechanism for the side doors of the kit appears to relevant to only Ocean wagons with numbers like 26xx.

Thanks John for the comment. I must admit I do like ambis brake levers. Still got their brake lever guards to make.

Just a short post today. If any WTs are interested about making brake guard brackets. First I cut a strip 0.80mm wide from 0.005" phossie bronze (brass would be ok) using a OFLA cutter. First bend length slightly less than width of brake guard making sure you have an angle leading to the W iron. On the inside of the bend I find a length of approx 3.5mm before second bend to attach to W iron. Trim to fit (photo will explain). Tin all relevent surfaces with small tip soldering bit as I did'nt want to melt the plastic axlebox. And voila one fitted bracket. Hope this was of use.
