Fantastic service from David. Phonecall last week to check on what I ordered, resulting in a change for the better, and the coach etches arriving today. Great packaging that got the large etches through the post unscathed.

The following are the side etched for the Bulleid West of England 2-set. The D2123 semi-open brake third is at the top, and the D2105 brake composite under.

Next we have 2 sets of ends and underframe etches (one shown), both front and rear:

IMG_20211020_100958.jpg

On the ends etch I've identified parts for:
  • Ends
  • Corridor connections
  • Door cover
  • Window grills
  • Various steps
  • Roof tank
  • Alarm gear
  • Grab rails
  • Roof destination boards
  • Lamp brackets
  • Electrical connections
On the underframe etch I've identified:
  • Main floor with fold up tabs to secure the sides and fold down elements for the cross beams. The 4 main long beams are not included and will need to be bought as C or L section.
  • 3 battery boxes and support frames
  • Main side trusses
  • Supports for the vac cylinder
  • End steps and door steps (short and long)
  • Brake V hangers and various linkages
  • Underframe overlays for various plates
  • Overlays for the buffer beams
What I think is needed to complete the build is as follows:
  • Bogies and wheels
  • Buffers and drawgear
  • Vacuum cylinder
  • C and L section for the underframe
  • Door hinges, bangs and handles
  • Roof
  • Interior partions (I have the seats)
With the current cost per coach being c£35, I think it's a bargain.

Many Thanks,

Unfortunately all the the chassis kits are now gone though! - together with the Tavern Cars and one or two others. It was just a one-off.

We will be upgrading & re-issuing the SR 8' Steam Bogies from the Cavalier range in two formats + who knows what else! It is nice to have all these options available - if I live long enough. Now where was that thread on Cloning!

All LNER/Constituent Companies ABS Wagons now on site and all the LMS & SR freight stock we currenty have should be on by late tonight or early tomorrow.

Regards

David

David and all,
I notice you list the ex LSWR Cowan Sheldon crane, if and when it does return to manufacture do you or anyone else know if it would make a good basis to build an LNER example ? :D

It will return for sure. It was transferred from the southern to the WR in 1963 and was based at Landore depot. I don't know if any/much similarity exists between it and others used elsewhere. I will only probably find out once we start work on re-jigging the kit.

Thanks David, for some reason I could well be in the market for some SR 8' steam bogies. I can't face making any more Slaters brass ones...

My order from DJ Parkins arrived safely by this mornings post, complete with scrunched up pages torn from copies of Radio Times. The main kit components are wonderful, cleanly cast, almost entirely free from flash. Thanks David.

What's the likelihood of you re-introducing the old ABS range of pre group cast axle boxes, axle guards, and buffer housings etc.? I've found then great for when I am scratch building but sadly my squirrelled away stash is getting low now.
Many thanks Tony Overton

Many Thanks Tony -

Well we will be adding all the wagon packs we have in stock sometime next week [and there are some of most that were listed in Adrian's last catalogue] but the range will get somewhat rationalised in the longer term - so probably best to get all you think you might need when we upload the listings. We won't be carrying on with hundreds of products from obscure types as much as we'd like to, as the railway side is only really an adjunct to our military kits and we just cannot handle the inventory. There maybe more packs we can make up from castings already produced by Adrian - but that will take time as there are four pallets of boxes containing castings each about 4-5 feet high! Probably into thousands of boxes to go through over time!

Only just seen your post about those instructions. Again I'll find them - but we have box files aplenty to go through to find the instruction masters. Any others at present are in packed up kit boxes!

Just a further update -

All the LNER & Constituents and LMS & Constituents wagon kits have now been added to the site - with the SR & Constituents to appear over the next three hours or so.

A 'heads-up' for WT Members - we have ONE only ABS Wickham Permanent Way Trolley kits - the version with fully detailed interior and with figures included - contact me if you are interested. Price £76.00 incl. VAT.

The Wrightlines Narrow Gauge Passenger and Freight Rolling Stock Kits should all be up by the end of the weekend.

Regards To All,

DJP

Thank you David for providing details of both what is available and how to order. To be clear... the LNWR resin body wagons on your website today are about 60-70% of what was available from Adrian (say) fifteen years ago. If the D32 and D33 van kits are not listed on the web-site as of today then you are not able to supply those vans at this time.

regards, Graham

Hello Graham -

That is correct - what is on the site [not just LNWR] are the packed up wagons we got as part of the business - the rest were out of stock but we have the masters for all those and much much more - wagons that were never released, including one or two really big jobs. All will re-appear over time but obviously 2020's production cost will apply and prices will rise - but as I said before [as with our own MMP wagons] we will try and keep prices as low as possible.

Hi David
A belated thank you, a few days ago I received the Classic Commercials Fordson lorry, from you, a kit I had been seeking on and off for several years, I even brought, I think if was, a kit of Polish origin, a military version, with a view to converting into the coal merchants lorry for the yard at Litton Cheney, but it always bugged me that it is 1/48th scale, not 1/43rd! Wait over! Many thanks once again for your superb service.

Having had my 1st order delivered, I am now unable to stop drooling at the rest of what is appearing.
The 'resurrection' of these items is a wonderful development. All power to the continued release of the kits; this is one Pandoras box of delight...

Thanks Mark.

I actually really appreciate this feedback from people - but I think it is really just part of doing your job as you should!

I've read several posts elsewhere about manufacturers who do not answer any enquiries or take weeks to send items and then seem to resent customers enquiring as to the status of their orders. I've experienced it myself lately.

Some seem regard the customer a a nuisance! I just don't know what the point of being in business is if you feel that resentful towards people who wish to spend their hard-earned money with you!

Anyway thanks & regards

Yeah! And you won't believe some of the stuff that is unreleased in Pandoras box! As Eric Idle would have said 'say no more'! [for now]

One of the 'extras' I purchased was a scratchbuilt Class 27 EM2 body in nickel silver - that I will not be selling!

Hi David,
I couldn't agree more, I went through a spell of enquiring after some O gauge loco kits, and never received replies from any of them!
So its almost a bonus when you receive prompt replies, and reinforces the point that you are dealing with an excellent, return too, supplier.
