Tarring Neville and Littledene

Great photos, Andy...very much remind me of some of the photos in the Middleton Press "Industrial Railways of the South East" album.
Simon.

Cheers Simon, That book, Gordon Edgar's brilliant books and a few others all helped when I was doing research. I've actually started work on the next part of Tarring Neville which will be the narrow gauge line in from the chalk pits to the cement works.

I'd forgotten about Gordon Edgar's books...I've got the volume on Yorkshire and will be referring to it soon as I want to do a bit of scenic fettling on my 0-14 layout which is based on a Sewage Works line near Bradford. It's nice to see some Sussex-based industrial modelling; it's perhaps not the first place many would associate with industrial railways, but of course it had many. I look forward to seeing progress with the narrow gauge!
Cheers,
Simon.

I love the Gordon Edgar books. I'm lucky enough to have the full set, with the annoying exception of the South West one. Most of them picked up secondhand over the last few years, and all at reduced price. They are wonderfully inspiring books... I just need to find that missing volume one day!

Yeah people seem to forget the amount of industrial stuff in Sussex and there was quite a range of industries too.

I'm glad I picked them all up when I did. I know there are few that are now hard to find. His Flickr site can distract me for hours at a time too.
