Good Afternoon
I have just joined thanks to speaking to Steve Fay in the Newport 0 gauge show on Saturday.
I model Western region steam and diesel in 0 gauge. I am in the process of trying to plan a small o gauge layout with a welsh theme and character.

I am currently building a class 121 (bubble car) in 0 gauge so will try getting around to putting up a few pictures.

Hi Scott,
Nice to see a few more joining, I won't feel like the newbie for much longer!!
Who's bubble car kit are you building?
I fancy the Westdale one, and have a Bachmann one that with a little tweaking came up quite well. Still need to fit the windscreen wipers, only waited 6 years
I love the Western region and have a couple of hydraulics, a Heljan Hymek and JLTRT Western. All posing as ornaments for the past few years as I'm becoming besotted with kit building!

Its a Model express kit. Its not bad model actually, brass sides, aluminium roof formed and resin fronts with white metal underframe detail. The whole kit excluding wheels but includes motor and gear for £110. Using pear tree engineering wheels.

Are you adding sound?
I fitted a 00 gauge sized decoder on mine.
On reflection, and after chatting with Cliff Williams, I should have paid the extra and fitted the XL and a 35 mm speaker and enclosure. ( I have these from Cliff for my Thumper)
All the sounds are there, but not really strong enough, like the nice rasp sound as it pulls away. (Mine's a Howes decoder)

I will probably add sound as like the sound of the Leyland 680 engines on them :)

Hi Scott,

welcome to WT. I to am working on a number of 121s - well, they are shelf queens at present, one (the Easybuild one) is to be done as a Sandite unit, I had Shawn put in the extra windows for me.

cheers

Mike

Excellent - it puts a whole new meaning on 'third rail' and not much room for the railhead treatment fluid either:))

cheers
