Quayside & warehouses

As it states, a simple single track, in front of some warehouses, probably inlaid, with a stone quay wall.

Inspiration comes from the Barbican in Plymouth and the harbour at Portreath.

This is the main idea.



This is the sort of style, but the brickwork will be replaced with granite stones.

Most of my modelling is in 4mm, this will be no exception. The plank will probably be only 6"-7" wide and a couple of feet long. If I can manage it, it will also be incorporated into a cameo-style layout, at some point.

So there will be a quay wall, but no water, and the buildings will be an inch or so deep.

One item I'd like to include is a 'working' sack hoist.

Meanwhile, I've been looking at potentially suitable bits of 5mm ply and 2x1 in the wood pile.

Saw that many years ago at Bristol. It was one of those models that left an impression for its quality. I tend not to remember too many exhibition layouts seen over the years, but that is one of them.

I also picked up this £2.00 laser cut building. I think it's a Christmas Tree decoration, but I see potential as a warehouse, once all the excess tags are removed.
