A 1964 transport film with something for just about everyone?

Big surprise was to see dear old "Charlie", with the shunter's family home in the the former offices of the original Newmarket & Chesterford Rly., station, conveniently near to the stables!

I dare not get started on the subject of "lost" listed buildings...!!

Pete.

"looking forward to the day that the (travelling) public have nothing more to complain about"

ROFL barely touches it

The Rank Organisation produced a good number of these high quality colour Look at Life shorts - which is not surprising given the production team would have had access to the organisation's filming equipment and production facilities.

These short films are an excellent resource for anyone modelling this period and are worth searching for.

I particularly liked the line about diesels being a temporary stop-gap until electrification could be completed (paraphrased). Still waiting.
