Hi Steve.

I was about to send you a message to say that I never saw a headboard as you show the "Capitals United Express" at that position above the buffer beam. Then I happened to be updating some of Tim's photos and, lo and behold, he'd photographed the prototype.

I'd like to put the photo up here so you can see but I've promised myself that nothing of Tim's collection will be published until his family has agreed the terms. No matter what Tim and I agreed I need the confidence that his family support our agreed approach to this collection.

I would like to see that Brian but understand you need Tims family’s approval first, I do have a picture of a Brit with the capitals headboard in that position but the top lamp iron was bent down. I’ve seen pictures of locos being prepared with the head boards posed before being lifted in position.

Canton has been on the back burner for a while but things are moving forward, The steps for the footbridge are on order with the laser cutters and the shed will follow. My next Castle 4037 is rapidly taking shape with the builder and 5099 is away for a repaint and will hopefully be back in time for the first show in July. 5A361DD6-1171-4E64-AE73-2BEF745BC0BF.png

Bar a back head Dan Haines has completed my next Castle 4037 The South Wales Borderers seen here as she was in the last two years of operation. A long time Newton Abbot loco so expect to see her on St Stephen’s at some point and of course Cardiff Canton.
A former Malcolm Mitchell loco kit supplied now by MM1 models with Warren Shephard tender and also a host of castings from Warren for the loco and a few MM1 castings for the tender so she’s a bit of a hybrid, Severn Mill plates to complete0EE6B04C-337F-4422-8D9E-2A2790A26133.pngE187C2C8-F339-4CDD-9D95-2066D8789B3D.png

Looking resplendent in her new coat of BR Green the pride of Cardiff Canton 5099 Compton Castle. Fresh from the paint shop of Paul Moore This one was slightly unfortunate as I dropped a book on the tender whilst moving from my last home and a little damage was sustained and the paint chipped, Paul has carried out a repair and a repaint in a nicer shade of green but the chassis which was weathered has been left so she looks like the cleaners at Canton have been working their way down the loco. Built from a MM1 models ex Malcolm Mitchell kit by Paul Hannah. I’m looking forward to seeing her back on her home shed soon.AB3088A0-BD3E-43B7-B7FF-3E0AD19A52C3.pngBE3FB8B4-EFBA-449C-91E8-9FBE07B0C170.png4292B8E0-C964-41A4-968E-3DE9DF1E3653.pngCBFF02AF-911D-4010-B58A-599C94EE057B.png

Unfortunately I’ve had to postpone Cantons show outings for this year but we will definitely be available from 2023, until then we eagerly await the arrival of 5099 back from the paint shop. The next job is to add the printed rendered concrete wall to the pit sides just like I did on Canton Mk1. 3287D389-BE2A-4011-BB0F-86A8FCEB2EDA.pngA6398686-A7C3-4EDB-95B3-C31834B7DE79.png8E2DFE66-090D-497E-866E-D53A5BE6C14C.pngCC486C5B-674E-415C-AEB6-A36454138DEB.pngFB53E1C0-DB54-4EAF-B10D-D0BAF5A57418.png98D770BB-DA7E-4AFC-B596-3C5CB47F14E7.png53ECF722-7E16-4ECB-A5E5-03BEDD52D86B.png9C1C5220-5ED5-4A2A-8589-67C8C4679C75.pngEFE7798C-BB99-42E9-AE29-9EDE3704819D.pngE17A6957-B9AE-4E3E-AC78-6D4A5E999E1A.png

A few pleasant hours spent on Canton this morning, I’ve been adding DAS clay on the ground close and inside the shed, looking at real pictures the ground was fairly flat here, I’ve left the part closest to the steps as in pictures I can see a brick base so I’m going to hand lay individual bricks set in DAS
I’ve also added in the pit sides to three pits using Kirtley models printed rendered concrete as I did on Canton MK1 but this time I’m using Intentio Model Railways laser cut pits, they still needs blending in yet along the top with a bit of dirt.5BB1F364-58DF-4EC3-B5C6-5122FEF36674.jpeg49A7F014-13D3-45E6-A79F-60F7BC30EA94.jpegDED5A29D-2219-47A8-8F34-2A6F3BD93F92.jpegD7D591D8-DC8B-42EB-A3F2-A6000194B7DB.jpegDC4C771F-42D8-4178-B8F8-0A250B2D8320.jpegD7258A3A-AC90-450F-8F4A-4B4AE4AE112C.jpeg06529F22-7A95-40C0-BA9B-8FB8FE690438.jpeg0958D3DE-92A8-4D8D-9D00-5B678D0D19F8.jpeg
