Apart from the last post, which has introduced a healthy dose of WT-wit, this topic seemed to be getting close to a ****-**** ;)

Cracking little layout! If it weren't for the big N-Gauge couplings I'd have said that was 4mm! The 22 and 121 are very nice too.

I can confirm the Dapol 22 is indeed very nice and those who usually model in the large, unwieldy scales should give in to temptation and get themselves one. Mine is currently having its wheels turned down to 2FS - pictures will follow.

The RTR offerings in this scale have come a long way since my dabblings in N gauge in the mid 1970's:oops:. I am very impressed with the running quality's too

The North British looks great....as does the layout & Class 121

Phill:) (who still has a Dawlish sea wall N scale layout idea lurking somewhere in the back of my mind:D)

Thanks for your kind words P.J. much appreciated.
D.Gs are my couplings of choice, so the 22 and Clay hoods will be fitted with them and suitably weathered for a small china clay terminal layout based on a drawing by Paul. A .Lunn, which i am ready to make a start on.

Thanks very much Phil....
You are right....i don't think there has ever been a better time to model in N- 2mm/FS, as now.
The quality of the diesel models we are getting is quite outstanding. There is also great strides being made in regards to finer scale code 40 track in N.(will post details if anybody is interested in that.)

I love the layout idea.I hope it someday makes it out of the grey matter and on to your workbench.

I would be very intersted to see a layout thread & a workbench detailing the weathering of the North British & clay hoods you've mentioned:)

It probably will at some point, although I still have plenty to keep me busy on Withercombe for the foreseeable future
