My Name is Dave Oliver from Wakefield, I am interested in the blue era diesels in 7mm and DCC sound. I am a member of the WLA and have been to Bridgenorth with 1054 from Honley. As this was my first visit it gave me an insight into the field of diesel hydraulics with the Westerns at Bridgenorth. This last few months has been a busy time for me at work, as I am employed as a PCV driving instructor and am training many drivers for their vocational qualifications that will soon become law. On the modelling front along with 1054 we have built and exibited the layout Bridge Norton at both Halifax and Telford and have also taken part of the Bridge to the Western legacy meeting at Peterborough recently. I am currently about to embark on a build of six BR Mk 1 coaches, they have many parts missing which I will have to source from the many suppliers within the trade. I am a member of Huddersfield railway modellers and also a member of the GaugeOGuild. Hopefully now you have a little of my background, I maybe asking for help and advice on parts and building of the Mk 1s. Regards Dave O.

Hi Dave :thumbs:

Welcome to the forum. You will fit in here very well ( blue era diesels :D).

I had a good day down at SVR on the saturday of the Diesel Gala. Ian (Boris) showed us around Western Ranger and i had a Bridgenorth to Kiddy and return hauled by Western Courier:D:D.

I may have seen you at Telford as i was talking to Ian for quite a while , whilst he was operating Bridge Norton.

Dont forget to post lots of pics when you start your workbench;)

Welcome in, Dave;

And you certainly hit the spot with the right words in your into - "Blue", "Hydraulics", "7mm", "DCC".
You'll fit right in around here! :thumbs:

Not exactly sure about a template for Mk1 underframes, though, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly with better information. . .
In betweentimes, you could do worse than check out the Kieth Parkin book on Mk1 coaches? - There's a whole load of underframe information in there.

Workbench not started yet for Mk 1 stock but sourcing parts has been fruitful. Also when I looked at my last post I asked for info on templates I should have asked for info on building jigs. I have Kieth Parkin,s book and also the later suplement,
