Thank youThat is one outstanding build!
(I think I might have seen some solder in picture 37)

Sparing with the solder and remove the excess straight away, and obviously solder from behind where possible. I mostly use a microflame torch so with capillary action the solder sucks into the joins and the residue is easy to clean away.I'm not sure how he manages to hide the solder
Thanks Simon, interesting approachChristian,
I hope this might help

I 3D print the top hats now, though I used to turn them, I use 2mm brass rod as the plungers, and Premier coupling springs for the springs, and ESU Hochflexibelkabel (or something rather similar) to wire them up.

I think that you may be thinking of those in the former Hobby Horse range. In their absence I made some pivoting examples for the Princess using the etches in the kit which I modified and added to some lengths of brass angle for the pivot attaching them with a stub of a brass dress makers pin through the hole in the cabside.Cinder guards on the cab sides, the kit has some pretty poor etched pieces, I recall years ago that someone made some nice cast cinder guards that actually pivot. Does anyone know who made these?

YES! Thats the ones, Hobbyhorse, another supplier that has sadly disappeared, I guess no one has taken over?I think that you may be thinking of those in the former Hobby Horse range. I've used Alan Gibson plunger pickups on my last couple of 7mm/1ft builds. They work very well for me.And lastly, what are you guys using for pickups, I had used the Slaters plunger pickups in the past but I recall they were never that successful, any suggestions?
Any help would be much apappreciated
