Metropolitan Railway Electric Locomotive

These locos were introduced in 1920’s to run overground from Baker St to Amersham pulling standard coaches. They were known as Growlers due to the noise made by the traction motors. I can remember seeing one at Baker St in the 1960’s.

The model is mostly 3D printed with full interior cab detail; the bogies have a steel chassis to carry the motor/gearboxes with printed detail plate sides, both bogies are powered.

The model was created in collaboration with Paul Smith from FK3d.co.uk who made the laser resin prints, this process produces perfectly smooth surfaces and renders remarkable detail.

We are considering making the loco available as a kit if there is any interest.

Nice.

These locos were introduced in 1920’s to run overground from Baker St to Amersham pulling standard coaches.

Baker Street, Liverpool Street and Aldgate - they mainly ran as far as Rickmansworth with some services to Watford and occasionally Uxbridge. In 1960 -62 running to Amersham and Chesham was probably the exception (rush hour trains) rather than the norm.

The standard coaches were the Met 'Dreadnoughts'.

With regard to the 'potential' kit would it include the additional details (as I've circled on my 7mm Met Bo-Bo) - Electric connections with an extra high level connection on the A end, Drivers wing mirrors, Bogie safety chain brackets, elbows for the vacuum pipe lines, T valves for the air pipe lines and an alternative sole bar as the rivet pattern is different the ends depending upon the locomotive - e.g. they are present on 3 Sir Ralph Verney but not on 12 Sarah Siddons or 18 Michael Faraday

As you mention there are several variants of these engines, we have chosen the one you see. However that would not stop anyone adding the features they require.
There are a couple of tweaks that are needed and I have to finish painting the loco before we can say a kit is available.
