Removing insignia from coach side

I wish to remove the LNER lettering from side of Bachman teak Thompson coach. Have removed corridor handrail with IPA but not having any luck with lettering. Maybe not trying hard enough but do not want to mess it up. Thought I would ask for advice.
thanks. Mike Wakefield.

For Bachmann, try a little T-cut on a cotton bud. This worked for me on a class 03 diesel, but be aware you will end up with a shiny patch which will need hiding e.g. varnish or a clear sealer.

Thanks for ideas. Based on the Tcut idea a have tried the corner of track cleaning block
it has worked but of course has taken the top teak simulation off and left base coat. Just ordered up some suitable Humbrol enamels to hopefully rebuild.
Ever wish you never started something. Have about 7 coaches to do including converting to P4. Making up a main line set based around Gresley triplet diner.
Cheers. Mike.

I have tried IPA with no luck. Made contact with Bachman customer service. Very prompt reply. They say IPA will not work as the sides are Tampo printed which is a new one on me. I think it means that the insignia is part of the main colour. I have removed lettering and gone through to bottom layer which seems to bear this out. Have now obtained some Humbrol enamels to try to patch things up. With 10 coaches to do I can see this becoming another project that dies.
thanks. Mike.

Tampo printing involves a jelly-like pad picking up a layer of ink and, very precisely, applying it to the side the model. Each colour of the insignia in question is applied as a separate operation.

Try white spirit, applied with the tip of a cocktail stick. Be patient - it will take quite a bit of rubbing to start to soften the insignia. Being a slow process, it is more controllable.

John Isherwood.
