Hello Everybody
Sad news about Mark of Markits passing another supplier who did really nice accessories in 4mm and 7mm his range of turned brass buffers for example in 7mm were second to none it will have an impact on the hobby unless someone else is prepared to carry on with the range.
I think there were a number of kit suppliers that kind of relied on the range as upgrades to some of their rolling stock kits.

Kind regards,

Paul.

Very sorry to hear that-
Mark did fantastic stuff, no alternative to him for a lot of things. I assume he had some sort of engineering or machine shop background as everything he did was a professional job of machining. Not enough people like that left these days.

Gents, this sad news was reported nearly a year ago!

Yes I found myself panic-buying GER buffers at Kempton last year. The grapevine told me, the 7 mm buffer products might get taken over by an established supplier. They need someone with knowledge of the product and subject. Because of way Mark worked (keeping a lot of information in his head like we all do!) the buffers need some skill to put them together. So heads, stocks, springs and spacers and so on get married up correctly before packing.

Hi RichardG
Hopefully what the grapevine mentioned will be true although I have been told that most if not all information in relation to production of parts was not recoded ie Mr Markits only had the knowledge of machining programs for example to run the machines so I am assuming the new potential supplier will need for one thing machine programing knowledge as well as other skills, fingers crossed as I have some coach and loco kits unmade.
