For those requiring accommodation in the area, there is a Premier Inn on the outskirts of town, about 3 minutes drive or ten to fifteen minutes walk from the Town Centre.

The railway station is about a mile away with at least hourly services from York and Redcar. Buses pass the station and stop in the town square one minute walk from the venue.

In view of the current situation with regards to the latest variant of Covid-19, the EMGS Board has taken the painful decision to cancel the face-to-face AGM due to take place in Thirsk on January 22nd and the Modellers' Day event which was planned to coincide with it.. The AGM will now be a virtual AGM using Zoom and available only to EMGS members.

As there is a limitation of the numbers that can be hosted at a Zoom meeting thus it will be necessary for members to express an interest in attending this meeting. To do this an e-mail address has been set up, virtualagm@emgs.org. If you wish to attend the meeting, please send an e-mail to this address and the joining instructions will be sent back to you. Note that the response will be on a first come first served basis and once the numbers reach the limit for the Zoom meeting no further expressions of interest will be accepted. All expressions of interest must be made by Wednesday 19th January.

It’s disappointing news, but hardly surprising. I have a feeling in my bones ( more likely arthritis than Covid) that things will get better this year.
