These pictures show a track-laying operation taken on a snowy morning in February or March 1958 at Standon Rock on the West Coast main line. The self-propelled steam crane was operating at the north end of the train. At the other end was 8F 48668 stationed at Crewe at that time.
Hope these may be of interest. I apologise for the lack of sharpness but in those days I had only a fixed focus box type camera.
