I thought the process very interesting, however it was the condition of the sleeper top at time index 5.59(ish!) which caught my eye. For main lines, grab your walnut sleepers, some Mr. Sheen and a polishing mop for the mini-drill!

at the height the rail was when laid... the ballast has sunk, leaving a gap for the rail to flex. Axle loadings are higher in the USA - each axle might be pushing 25 tons or more, just on the cars (wagons) if they're loaded.
