Cape Gauge (3ft6") modeled at 9mm:1ft

Admiring the recent 1:24th scale developments (running on 45mm gauge track) of African subjects at a couple of shows and being very taken with it .
The sad reality has been admitted that it's too large for me .
However drop down a scale to 9mm:1ft and use O gauge wheels and motors and things become a whole lot more manageable .
Has any one else had similar thoughts ?

Just as S scale (1:64) is also a perfect fit for modelling 3' 6" gauge prototypes on 16.5mm gauge track, so too is 9mm scale for 'O' gauge track.

While 'S' is the most common scale for modelling New Zealand's railways, the greater heft of 9mm scale (just marginally larger than 1:34) is popular for those who enjoy some scratchbuilding of locos and rolling stock. Naturally, there are fewer layouts in the larger scale.

Although I prefer to be working in 1:48 scale, the current project just happens to be a few 'mineral' wagons in 9mm scale. These were only of 12 ton capacity, compared to Britain's 16 ton. (Pairs of swing doors are about to be added above the drop down doors.)
