I've just found this rather splendid short documentary on moving goods from the station to the industrial district of Lausanne. I'm afraid that I could only find the video on Facebook rather than where it may originally have been shown. There are more photos of this most quirky operation here with the hint that a wagon lift may have been involved in the past too.

Roller bearings on the wagons must have helped those two chaps pushing the wagon across the main road? Can't see that being possible with oil boxes in the UK?

I wouldn't have been the shunter standing in the four foot at 2' 19" though, too risky!
