I have received an update from Model Motorcars in Florida regarding the Scale Hardware range of products, as follows:
Hello Ian,
Scale Hardware News
One of the biggest concerns we hear from our customers is the dwindling availability of our miniature rivets.
We’ve been aware of that concern, but resolving it has been a major challenge. The pandemic and supply chain
issues has caused most of our suppliers to raise their prices. This was especially so with the factory that produces
our rivets. However, it is with great pleasure that we can now announce we were able to strike a deal with the
factory and have placed an order for both the 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm brass rivets. We hope to be able to make
them available by the end of April.
For anyone who has purchased some of our 0.8 mm nuts or bolts, you may have noticed a change to our product
line-up. Specifically, bolts that were previously labeled as “BT08” are now labeled “BT08M”, with the “M” indicating
Micro Profile. The reason we did this was because the dimension of the head of these bolts are smaller than other
0.8 mm hardware, with a “flat to flat” dimension of 1.0 mm versus 1.3 mm. Further, our 0.8 mm nuts were also only
1.0 mm flat to flat, which didn’t look correct when using our BT086 bolts, so we have now added regular 0.8 mm
nuts and re-labeled the original nuts as N008M.
We’ve also introduced a “Bolt Dimensions” table which can be viewed from the details view of any of our bolts.
We’ve received very positive feedback on this and will be adding similar tables for the rest of our hardware soon.
