Wildlife in the garden - at any time of year

Saw my first sparrers and starlings of the year - yet again, not in my garden!
We must be fortunate then, here in mid Suffolk for the last 6 years, we have a school of 'Sparrers' living here all year round, last rough count about 18.
Starlings very less so this year with only a couple spotted in the garden but plenty fly by across the fields.

Here in Bristol we have a flock of a mixture of tree and house sparrows, at least 20, starlings many times a day, coal, great blue and long tailed tits,1 male and 2 female black caps who are now all year residents, 2 pairs of black birds, nesting? robins and greater spotted woodpecker, plus the usual pigeons, rooks ( very agressive!) and magpies. But not a finch of any sort seen in years. Not bad for a garden within a mile of the junction of the M4/m32

No photos but just have had to get the gas engineer out to release a pair of Jackdaws from the chimney. Why is it always Jackdaws………

Not in my garden but we took a short ride up the dale yesterday to pay a visit to Castle Bolton as it's known locally.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, made more so by their reintroduction of wild boar. Which seem to be doing nicely as there were number of piglets.

The sun was out and they were happily snoozing, making the most of it.

These were a separate group and the two youngsters moved away a little hen we approached the fence, but as we stood quietly watching they some returned and snuggled down beside mum for a snooze.

One of the towers is habitable and Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in Castle Bolton for 6 months so much is made of her stay there.

As a visitor, if you are that way inclined, it's possible to go right to the top of one of that tower and out onto the battlements. The views from up there are quite spectacular. - As you might imagine there are a lot of narrow winding staircases to get up there.
