We have entered full on panic mode now, the road has taken an absolute age to get to this stage and I've just had to stop mucking around with it as I'm well behind where I had hoped to be.



The Provendor store is glued into place, all of the brown scenic stuff has been put away and the green stuff is piled up in the corner of the lounge. Time to get on with the grass and hedges...

I wish, I could be chasing my steam engine up and down the line again

I'm trying out some new static grass from the Polak brand, bought last year whilst I was in Utrecht. It would appear to be not very static when applied by a puffer bottle - maybe it works better with an electric applicator. Anyway, I appear to have generated a kind of floppy green, largely horizontal grass type fieldish thing...

All the basic grass cover has been done (despite pinging the lid of the puffer bottle onto the newly laid grass about four times ) , a massive confidence crisis moment ensued shortly afterwards and various bits of scenery were added and taken off whilst I had a grump about it all. I'm still going through an 'ar*e in hands' phase so I'm just moving from left to right.

I think the problem is I had forgotten just how long some of it takes and I'm annoyed that I won't have the layout in the state that I wanted it to be on exhibition day. I know John said it didn't have to be finished, but I've missed my own targets, ah well...

I must admit that I have never modelled to a deadline before deciding to build the tram engine and it certainly does focus your mind - I didn't think that would have time to have it painted and I would have been happy to take it along unpainted but having it completely finished was a bonus.

I've been following this thread since the beginning and I am extremely impressed with the layout so far - and it's not even finished! I'm very inspired!

You did well with the Tram engine Rob Must confess that the deadline didn't bother me until I realised I was going to miss it!

Right, tools have been cleaned and I've called it a day As close as I can get them the same, here are two shots, one of the start on Saturday morning (natural light) and one about 5 minutes ago (photography floodlight)





At least it looks different after a whole weekends work Looks more like a layout now and if I can get the hedges at the front finished I'll be happy enough to exhibit it. The track needs a clean now, the whole layout needs a run over with the hoover and I've got some stock to convert to three links. Fingers crossed the loco's behave themselves....

Workbench has been cleared up a bit, time to get the rolling stock and the three links out.

You've built a layout in less time than it takes me to make my mind up about something then change it several times before coming to the same conclusion once more

Must confess that I enjoy the scenic part of layout construction as you can really see it come to life - spectacular work at a ferocious rate!

Nothing exciting to report today, just fitted 5 wagons and a brakevan with three links and set all the back to backs.
Everything seems to roll OK when finger pushed and propelled, I'll clean the track and get the locos out tomorrow.
