It would have been Maroon D1016 but I just couldnt get my samples right, still the next one will be Maroon 
The colour is Railmatch acrylic over lifecolour acrylic, with vallejo gloss varnish. it still needs some tweaking but I am getting the hang of the acrylics and they are nice to work with.
If anybody wants to buy an unused can of JLTRT blue and 10th used can of warning yellow let me know.

Grey primer, lifecolour rail blue, railmatch rail blue. I often add a drop of black to the blue to darken it a little although in this case  I didn't. I will be fading it a little with some abteilung White, hopefully giving it a used look.

Although the paint looks grey here it is actually white  the transfers seem to be ok, if somewhat fiddly. Right what needs doing next?!

With one side smooth for new locos, and the other side having half-etched circles to represent the corrosion around the screw heads?

Yes! Im looking at cab dials as well, Steve Harrod has promised a cab shot and I think I can do something a little extra  8)

I actually have a different way of applying them now as doing them before gluing just didnt work as it was too hard to get them straight

Almost there, just glazing, pipes and a couple of handrails to add to the body, which O would have done tonight but the varnish is drying on the transfers.
After that just the brakegear to do

So we are all agreed on the different liveries which these 'ere oilies carried...  and yet there is a small matter which puzzles me and I hope someone can explain.

The stressed body skin of the Westerns required that the metal was pre-treated before painting, some form of etch primer I think and intended to give the colour coats a surface to "grab".  Of all of the different colours, I think that the only livery to show paint coming off in patches - like blisters - was the blue....  a different paint composition possibly? an age related effect?

Any ideas?
