Hi all,

I thought I would start my thread with some basic information in what I am trying to achieve and layout plans ect...

I am creating an NSE themed layout in 7mm, this layout will set in the sectorisation period loosely based on the West of England line, dominated by the toothpaste livery (NSE) but also all other aspects of this glorious time period such as the mail train departmental stock and my second best colour scheme the Intercity services ;)

Many of you know that I am very passionate about all things red whit and blue (Time for the toothpaste jokes :p) and have had a couple of 00 gauge layouts based around the same time period and location.

After the dismantled Shaftesbury MK1 and the MK2 00 version's I thought that I would move on to the world of 7mm for the all needed boost to complete a layout

Now I know that the O gauge land is a very strange place, not many RTR locos coaches ect on the market not many modern image layouts/stock the amount of space needed and but no means the least the cost, so many people thought this move was crazy (to be honest they might be right ) but I feel that the need for a change was on the cards as Shaftesbury MK2 in oo just didn't for-fill my modling needs any more :(

My passion for the larger scale started last year after visiting an exhibition at Basingstoke, all I can remember of the show was this fantastic NSE themed O gauge layout Leavesden created by Peter Clark with your typical NSE stock all with sound and the icing on the cake was all that beautiful clagg spilling out of the exhaust pods of the locos when pulling out of the station  , unfortunately I had to leave the show in a hurry and did not manage to find out to much about the creator / owner but after a bit of home work I found that the creator of Leavesden "Peter Clark" also sold these kits on his own site, so happy times ahead

After a few minutes of consideration I commissioned Peter Clark to construct a class 205 Thumper 2H 2 Car Hampshire unit in NSE livery with sound and smoke unit installed  This unit will be completed by the end of this month.

Link to the 205 I have on order

http://www.peterclar...com/thumper.htm

The second loco I have on order this time with PRMRP is a class 50 which will be 50 033 Glouriouse in full revised NSE livery also fitted with sound and smoke unit, Glouriouse will be with me in the next couple of weeks  (Pictures to follow very soon)

Link to the class 50,Scroll half way down the screen.

After ordering the above I can confirm it has wiped my savings out  but you only live once so make the most of it.

Shaftesbury will be 32ft long (scenic section) by 2ft 8inch wide with a 15ft fiddle yard.

I hope you all find this new thread interesting and I am sorry to all of you that have seen this before

Hi all,

Thought I would share a couple of pictures of a few of the scenic items that have been made up that was purchased from Peter Clark

The traditional NSE bench

nse2-1.jpg

nse3.jpg

The old school NSE platform shelter.

nse4.jpg

And the ticket machine still minus the NSE flashes

A selection of goodies that are still awaiting to be made up!!!!

060-1.jpg

Selection of kits which include dummy point motors, line-side cabinets, point heaters, loads more benches ect

The third rail conductor shoes also arrived some cast in white metal which only cost £1.95 for 12 and some cast in Lost Wax these are a bit more expensive costing £5.95 for 12 these are vital so the code 100 track (Third rail) can be soldered to.

Picture of the white metal casting and the Lost Wax castings.

Also in the pack was some drain covers, it just amazes me the whole size of the o gauge world...

061.jpg

Also a few items from Skytrex.

A southern style tool hut.

004-48.jpg

And some southern style platform edging.

Only a few images but thought I had better add some images to brighten up the thread ;)

Nice to see you over here Darren - the premier site for 7mm and larger scale modelling:)

Those drain covers look nice. When (approx) would they have first appeared? Anyone know?

Hi Darren,

Am a 'newbie' here myself, so I recognise this project and am always happy to see it.

I guess the recent photos of the RW+B 50 will make an appearance soon...;)

Hi Richard, many thanks this site is 7mm heaven

The drain covers in the style I have purchased have been around for years, the picture below stated that is was placed in 1930 and is similar to the design I purchased from Peter Clarks models.

I can not be 100% certain on when these drain covers were used but I am pretty confident it's from a very early age.

Is it just me, or has the 33 on the PRMRP site had the cab front windows put in upside down?
locomo4.jpg

rest of the stuff looks nice, but why put such an error on a website advertising your own products?

 If you can model the rest of your layout to the standard of that drain, Darren, we're in for a treat....:)) ;););)

Simon, I asked that very same question on here some time ago - it is rather a basic error, isn't it??

Ah, so you did.
I shall have to join you at the back of the class.
Along with the builder, photographer and website creator for that loco...

PS Hello Darren and welcome. There are lots of seats at the front, as most of us are at the back of the class, sometimes for a short while, sometimes for ever, and it gets crowded.

What a bad piece of advertisement  yes those windows are definitely the wrong way around!!!!! I had better go and check my class 50  I am meeting up with Peter from PRMRP to collect my 50 next week, I shall point this out to him, no wonder he is not shifting many of these units!!!!

Hi all,

After all the talk about upside down windows I thought I had better post up my PRMRP class 50 to make sure all is OK :)

As mentioned earlier the class 50 from PRMRP is being fully constructed and painted for me, this 50 when complete will become 50 033 (Glorious) in revised Network SouthEast livery.

This unit will feature sound, working lights and a smoke unit with a custom built exhaust system so the clagg escapes from all four roof port's simultaneously, this should hopefully bring back some superb memories.

PRMRP have been posting me several updates as they go with this build so I thought I would share them with you

The first shots of the kit after construction

The loco with the first coat of primer and roof painted black

And a recent shot with the first application of blue paint

The addition of the red toothpaste stripe!!!!

And now the best pictures to last a couple of day's ago I received the first batch of pictures of the very near completed beast with just glazing and interior detail needed to end number 2

UNLEASH THE TOOTHPASTE LIVERY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool::thumbs:

I think she is a rel beauty and can not wait for the next couple of weeks so I can crank here over at Shaftesbury and smoke the place out!!!!!

Hope you all like,

I remember reading this comment over there - and now here. Pleases me because of the effort which we put into getting 7mm layouts which are not the run-of-the-mill GWR Branch Line Terminus. After such an enlightening experience in 2011 we asked Peter Clark and Jim McGeachy to bring another modern-era 7mm layout to the 2012 show - Invergeachy. Did you manage to get to see this layout?

regards, Graham

I've seen Invergeachy a couple of times, it's a nice layout, with plenty of sound fitted stock there's always something to attract the viewers attention.

Hi Phil,

Platform 2 which is the longest just over 14ft will be able to accommodate 9 coaches plus a loco with little room to spare  all the other platforms which are around 12ft will be able to accommodate 7 coaches plus a loco also with little room to spare ;)

After the express services which will be 8 coach formations, the main of the other services will be DEMU's & EMU's mainly in 4 t0 8 car formations so hopefully if all goes to plan the platforms should suite my needs

Yes the coaching stock is in hand PRMRP are constructing the first four for me hopefully I shall have a picture update soon, these are not the PRMRP coaches but the MK2's from JLTRT, after this I will try to have ago at a further rake of four to make the eight coaches I need to complete the rake

I need to save some money up first!!!
