Out of interest, just been upstairs in the loft and dug these buildings out - are either or both of them any good for your layout? Not sure what era you're going for so they might be a bit modern, but they're yours if you want them for the cost of postage. Footprint of the thin one is 480mm x 30mm, the L shaped jobbie is 510mm x 270mm (110 deep on the long leg and 30mm deep on the thin one).


They were both built from Walthers Cornerstone kits (I think), spray painted with Halfords white primer and had drain pipes added from brass wire. Skinny building has been weathered, the L shaped one is factory fresh. I'll be honest, the drainpipes will need gluing back into place, they were only superglued in place and they haven't liked the temp variation in my loft.


Both buildings have rail loading doors, the short side of the L building has a roller door for road vehicles. Not quite sure how how to package them up but we can figure that bit out

At least most of you have somewhere for your layouts. Mine has been banished to the darkest depths of a cupboard for now because SHE wanted a guest room for when our pregnant daughter visits, so our son has been moved into what was my modelling room. I told her I might as well just sell up then

They just see hobbys very differently to us, I'm sure. To my Mrs a hobby is something you might spend half-an-hour on once all the important stuff is done; to me a hobby is something you do then cram all the important stuff into half-an-hour...

having just hooked up the DCC unit - Digitrax, at the Club, I'm about three sleepers behind you on the learning curve, so as usual, I'm no help in that department, but I'm keen to learn, so I might have a read of the destruction book today.

I'm looking forward to seeing the progress photos on the scenery.

Steve's buildings arrived safe & sound, and will make a good Cold Storage and Chemicals Distributor respectively once they've been 'tweaked' a bit.
I've been getting to grips with this DCC witchcraft stuff recently, and have added some more Dark Side locos to the DCC fleet, using NCE 'drop in' decoders, and today done my lad's Hornby Pendolino, with Lenz Standard chips.
A couple of Q's for the DCC-Savvy around here...
1 - When consisting locos, how do I get the 2nd & 3rd Unit's lights off, leaving just the lead loco's lights on?
2 - The Pendolino runs rather slower with DCC than 12vDC (it's programmed to run on both). The Lenz manual says I might need to turn the "EMF" on, but is rather vague about exactly how this is done..?? Anyone..?????

Jordan,
1. - Turn the lights 'on' the lead unit and 'off' the rear unit before consisting. Or set it in the CVs of the decoder that there are certain behaviors you want the units to exhibit when consisted. This depends on the decoder and generally only the more expensive versions support the latter.
2. - Erm, don't know? Look through the CV table in the back of the manual would be a start. What decoder is it (model#)?
